This is about "Equestrian Girls" ain't it? If so, why hate a show before it debuts? I did the same thing to The Looney Tunes Show when it was announced to debut on Cartoon Network a while back, and it actually isn't all that bad.
Equestria Girls is deeply offensive as a *concept*; the very *idea* of it is terrible like a jockstrap full of smallpox, there is just no way they can make it any good. I will not watch even a moment of it, and will be angry every time it accidentally gets in front of me.
This is really more about the fandom reaction to The Horror than The Horror itself; the angry mob has a point, they just shouldn't blame Lyra for it.
Sooo you're saying that the Brony rule of "Love and Tolerate" doesn't apply to anything human related despite the fact that incredible amounts of us have done humanized drawings of then, humanized fanfictions of them, and have actually wanted to see a show for them as humans? Hell, certain bronies even did Rule 34 stuff of them Humanized(hey, it's better than creating pony sex)!! And honestly, I recall seeing a comic on here somewhere with Human Twi telling off certain bronies about how they're fine with humanized pony art but a tv show of it comes along and they hate it?!
Point being, WTF HAPPENED TO OUR #1 RULE: LOVE AND TOLERATE?! SINCE WHEN DID BRONIES LIKE TO CLASSIFY THEMSELVES AS BRAINDEAD HYPOCRITES?! As a brony who is giving it a chance, just like I did with the main series, I am disappoint as f*ck.
I've drawn humanized fanart myself, I'm not opposed to the basic concept; it's a concept, however, that *belongs in fanart*. There is a clear objective difference between something a fan makes out of love for a series and something a corporation makes in a shameless and soulless attempt to shoehorn an unrelated concept into an existing franchise for the sole purpose of cashing in on that franchise's popularity. It is doubly insulting because the very idea of a personality-free cookie cutter fashion doll show is directly opposed to the vision of Friendship Is Magic as a show which the entire family can watch and that refuses to talk down to girls or treat them like mindless Pink Aisle toy/fashion/nonsense consumers.
If Equestria Girls were just another mindless Bratz/Winx Club/Monster High tween fashion doll show, I wouldn't care, they're a dime a dozen and can be safely ignored. It's not. It's a mindless tween fashion doll show that's been shoehorned into the MLP:FIM franchise in a transparent attempt to capitalize on FIM's popularity, and it is inherently terrible because of it. I will *not* be "giving it a chance", and I sincerely hope it fails spectacularly and whatever executive was responsible for it becomes a pariah in the industry.
How do you even know what the show will be like before it even aired?
Don't judge a book by its cover. You never know, it may just be featuring the characters with the same kind of personality as their pony counterparts. But seriously, am I the only Brony willing to stand by the eternal rule of Bronies being "Love and Tolerate" and give the show a chance before saying anything about it?
It will be about the Mane Six finding a portal to a human version of Equestria, where they will take human-ish forms and go to high school to fit in. And all have exactly the same faces, stick figure bodies, and atrocious fashion styles. Its entire raison d'être is so that Hasbro can break into the Monster High category of tween fashion dolls by artificially grafting it onto the MLP:FIM franchise. I really don't need to know anything else about it. It's going to be awful when it comes out because it's awful *before* it comes out.
So far, from what I've seen online, about 15-20% of FIM fandom is "willing to give it a chance". Only a handful are excited about it, around 10% don't care one way or the other, and everyone else hates it like farts on elevators. Enjoy it if it makes you happy, but it's still going to be awful regardless.
Finally remembered to go back and add "4 LEGS GOOD 2 LEGS BAD!" like I originally intended.
Moral: Don't knock it till you try it.
