Tex couldn’t be from anywhere *but* Tejas; that much swagger would just be weird anyplace else. He lives up (or down) to the traditional Tejano stereotype *so* hard, his cutie mark is the flag of the Old Republic.

Tex’s special talent mostly defines his character, even if it is one o’ them vague and imprecise talents Earth ponies tend to get. He calls it “Boldest and Grandest”; basically, if he strides into a situation with stubbornness, bravado, confidence, and bull-headed determination, he’ll be good at it… for as long as he’s *convinced* he’ll be good at it. Sometimes “winning” has to be redefined as “limping away with fewer scars than the other survivors”, so he’s a bit frayed around the edges. He ain’t never the *best*, but he’s always pretty good, for as long as his confidence (and ability to sling absolute bull$#!+) holds up; the moment he fails a saving throw versus insecurity or indecision, however, he is utterly and completely useless. It makes learning new things kind of difficult, so he’s sort of a lunk. He’s also The Luckiest Goldurn’d Pony In The World, because the one thing he’s always been absolutely certain of is his love for his beautiful wife Carabug, who fortunately likes ‘em dumb and violent and goofy and sweet.

“Tex” ain’t exactly an uncommon name ‘round here, since it pretty much translates to “Colt born in Tejas about forty years ago”.
